Smart Air analyzed the data to see if China\u2019s air got any better in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few reasons to think 2016 was a good year. A stricter limit is the WHO\u2019s annual limit of 10 micrograms, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/How-clean-is-San-Franciscos-air\">the average in cities like San Francisco<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That declining average also masks a bad November and December for Beijing, when PM2.5 shot up above the historical averages.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4340 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Beijing-PM2.5-Monthly-Average-versus-2016-1024x861.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Beijing-PM2.5-Monthly-Average-versus-2016-1024x861.png 1024w, https:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Beijing-PM2.5-Monthly-Average-versus-2016-300x252.png 300w, https:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Beijing-PM2.5-Monthly-Average-versus-2016-768x646.png 768w, https:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Beijing-PM2.5-Monthly-Average-versus-2016.png 1953w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>How Are<\/strong> Other<strong> Cities Doing?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We analyzed data from US Consulates in other major Chinese cities. The data showed that 2016 was a good year across China.
