Worried about <\/span>how long you can survive in an airtight room? Thus, carbon dioxide is capable of tripling from such a small number, while oxygen is mostly unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Fears of Closing Windows and Low Oxygen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fears of low oxygen levels are easy to find. We tracked oxygen levels throughout normal workdays, keeping the door shut except for when people left and came back from lunch at midday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">How Long Can You Survive In An Airtight Room<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in these extreme conditions, oxygen levels showed almost no change. So changes would be even smaller in most homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply put, humans don\u2019t take in as much oxygen as we think we do. Based on oxygen alone, estimates are that the average person could<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.physicsforums.com\/threads\/how-long-can-one-live-in-a-sealed-room.685796\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">survive in a completely sealed, airtight room for 12 full days<\/a>! Running out of oxygen in a room is quite unlikely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">The Change Is In Carbon Dioxide<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While oxygen levels are pretty much constant over the day, what <strong>does<\/strong> change is the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. The key is that regular air has a <strong>lot<\/strong> more oxygen than carbon dioxide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Carbon Dioxide Can Be Harmful<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although we don\u2019t have to worry about running out of oxygen, too much carbon dioxide can be harmful. The levels in the Smart Air office during the test (1,000-3,500PPM) can make<span>&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/j.1600-0668.1999.00003.x\">people feel drowsy<\/a><span>. These levels<\/span> may even<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3548274\/\">worsen people&#8217;s performance on cognitive tests<\/a>.
