{"id":571,"date":"2014-02-16T12:28:11","date_gmt":"2014-02-16T04:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/cn\/?p=571"},"modified":"2020-07-15T11:55:53","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T03:55:53","slug":"china-english-independent-tests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/en\/blog\/china-english-independent-tests\/","title":{"rendered":"Independent Tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beijing-based Dr. Saint Cyr\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myhealthbeijing.com\/china-public-health\/blueair-vs-iqair-and-the-winner-is\/\">tests of air purifiers<\/a> were one of my original inspirations for the whole DIY project, so I was happy to see that the DIY recently became a part of those tests:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-572 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/06\/1-22.png\" alt=\"1\" width=\"1041\" height=\"581\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These are the first independent tests of the DIY, and the results parallel mine. You could also include the tests by doctors at the University of Michigan as independent \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/en\/blog\/independent-confirmation\/\">\u201cproof of principle,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0although they used a different fan and filter. The commonality is that all of the tests have shown that a simple filter and a fan can reduce particulate pollution in the home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Saint Cyr\u2019s review isn\u2019t all glowing. He rightly notes that the cannon is noisy, which I\u2019ve also written about (<a href=\"http:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/en\/blog\/china-english-noise\/\">decibel counts and comparisons here<\/a>). <a href=\"http:\/\/smartairfilters.com\/en\/blog\/china-english-noise\/\">Tests show the cannon is still very effective on the lower settings<\/a>,\u00a0so I recommend running the cannon on the somewhat quieter settings.\u00a0And for people who\u00a0are sensitive to noise, I recommend the quieter Original.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Saint Cyr writes that we\u2019re still in the early rounds of our design, and I think that\u2019s right. In fact, we&#8217;re\u00a0working on a new model that keeps the high performance with less noise.
