The word on clean air seems to be getting out. Particle Counting was written up in a few places recently:<\/p>\n<p>James Fallows graciously wrote about Particle Counting as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/china\/archive\/2013\/08\/one-low-cost-safeguard-while-living-in-toxic-china\/278352\/\">one low-cost safeguard while living in \u201ctoxic\u201d China<\/a>, partly in response to New York Times Beijing correspondent Edward Wong\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/08\/04\/sunday-review\/life-in-a-toxic-country.html?_r=1\">personal account<\/a> of worries about living and raising a child in China\u2019s pollution. (Ed also recently tweeted a shout out to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/comradewong\">Particle Counting<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>As usual, Reddit was ahead of the curve and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/China\/comments\/1ivhpl\/impressive_results_from_a_diy_30_air_filter\/\">posted about it<\/a> on their China page, as did the expat mag <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebeijinger.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/25\/make-your-own-diy-air-filter-rmb-166\">The Beijinger<\/a>. Particle Counting also made the <a href=\"https:\/\/sinocism.com\">Sinocism newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(Update: Quartz wrote up <a href=\"http:\/\/qz.com\/112173\/a-grad-students-diy-30-air-filter-could-help-chinese-city-dwellers-breathe-easier\/\">a piece<\/a> on the \u201cMacGyver\u201d solution to air pollution. The Middle Kingdom also mentioned Particle Counting in <a href=\"http:\/\/box381.bluehost.com\/suspended.page\/disabled.cgi\/themiddlekingdom.org\">a post<\/a> detailing more affordable ways to protect yourself from air pollution.)<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m currently working with the folks at the <a href=\"http:\/\/beijingenergynetwork.com\">Beijing Energy Network<\/a> to host a workshop (for those in Beijing) where people will be able to make their own filter to bring home.
