It’s very difficult to give a single number for the lifespan of carbon filters in an air purifier. How long an activated carbon filter lasts depends greatly on the level of gases and VOCs it filters when in use.<\/p>\n

These levels of VOCs vary greatly between different homes. For example, VOC levels are typically much higher in homes that have recently been renovated, have new furniture, or have smokers.<\/p>\n

That’s why we recommend against giving a ‘standard’ number for a carbon filter’s lifespan. Instead, we recommend running what we call a carbon filter ‘smell test’.<\/p>\n
