雾霾严重的时候，人们争相寻找有效的防污染口罩，尤其是针对儿童的。但是儿童防污染口罩的密封效果好不好呢？我们做了如下测试。
儿童口罩有什么问题？
问题在于儿童的脸和成人的不同。而且，孩子们还在不断长大，所以去年的口罩今年可能戴不上了。
为了帮助担心孩子健康的父母，我们做了公开数据测试。我们测试了专为儿童设计的Honeywell 小型H950V口罩。
两个年轻的志愿者帮助我们做测试：8岁的Pallavi和10岁的Vijay。
怎么做口罩密封测试？
密封测试用白色管子采样口罩里面的空气，来测真人佩戴口罩的效果。
同时，蓝色管子正在采集口罩外面的空气。
测试结果
两名儿童之间的效果差异很大：40%。这说明为每个孩子找到最合适的口罩是很重要的。
帮助儿童佩戴口罩
我们想更深入地了解， 这个结果的形成是否因为孩子们不了解怎么戴上口罩，或是因为口罩本身不适合他们的脸型。
为了测试这个问题，我们仔细帮助每个孩子戴上口罩，然后做了测试。
经过仔细地佩戴后，Vijay的密封效果提高了3.5%。可是，Pallavi的效果仍然是50%。
所以，认真地佩戴口罩似乎只有一点点帮助。Pallavi的低分可能意味着她需要一个更小的面具。
划重点：跟不戴口罩相比，两个孩子使用Honeywell的口罩呼吸到的污染物都明显减少。但是，他们之间40%的差异说明孩子们多尝试不同款式、大小的口罩。

Unfortunately we’ve only tested the Honeywell kids’ masks so far, and as we can see their effectiveness depends a lot on fit for the child. I suggest you find a mask that fits well for your child (you may need to try a few) and one which they are comfortable wearing.
A final solution could be a simple surgical mask since they are much easier to breathe through (we often hear of children complaining it’s hard to breathe through the thicker N95 masks). Surgical masks are also quite effective against PM2.5, which makes them a good choice for kids who find other masks too uncomfortable!
