Independent research by the Greater London Authority (GLA) demonstrates the benefits of HEPA filtration, supporting a £2.7 million initiative to improve classroom air quality for children across London.
In the GLA pilot, Smart Air’s Blast purifier achieved a 68.4% reduction in PM2.5 in one school compared with an unfiltered control classroom. This real-world result helped demonstrate the effectiveness of Smart Air’s air purification technology and became a project partner.

Bringing Cleaner Air to More London Schools
Launched in October 2025, the Mayor of London’s £2.7 million School Filters Programme aims to bring air filtration to at least 200 schools across London, helping reduce children’s exposure to airborne particle pollution.

The project marks an important milestone for Smart Air, reinforcing its commitment to evidence-based clean air solutions. With Smart Air products also available through NHS Supply Chain, eligible healthcare organizations across the UK have an established route to procure its air purifiers.

Smart Air Helps Bring Cleaner Air to More Than 200 London Schools
At its heart, the School Filters Programme is about helping children breathe cleaner air where they learn and grow. Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of air pollution, and improving classroom air quality is an important step toward creating healthier learning environments.
Working alongside WSP and Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, Smart Air UK is contributing to a wider effort that combines air filtration, indoor air quality monitoring, and educational workshops to raise awareness of air pollution and its effects on health.
