At Smart Air, we believe that clean air knowledge should be accessible to all. That’s why we teamed up with the American Center in China to host a series of Clean Air Workshops, led by Smart Air CEO and co-founder Anna Guo, bringing hands-on education to communities in Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shanghai, and Shenyang. Throughout seven workshops and seminars, we reached 225 people, sharing practical ways to protect themselves from air pollution.

Making Clean Air Knowledge Accessible

During our workshops, attendees learned about air pollution, DIY air purifiers, and practical protection measures. Many were surprised by how simple yet effective a DIY purifier could be. “I can’t believe something this easy works!” one participant exclaimed while assembling their purifier in just five minutes.

We also tailored discussions to local concerns. In Guangzhou, where humidity is high, mold is a key topic. In Shenyang, more families attended, highlighting a growing concern for children’s air quality. 

A participant in Wuhan, a medical professional, she was also passionate about air quality issues and expressed interest in volunteering for local outreach efforts, which felt very heart-warming.

Overcoming Challenges, Creating Impact

Each city brought unique challenges, ensuring the right audience, adapting event formats, and balancing technical depth. We adjusted by modifying our content and fostering engaging discussions. Despite these hurdles, the energy in every session was incredible. 

A father in Shanghai brought his teenage son, hoping to equip him with problem-solving skills: “I want him to think critically about solutions, not just problems.”

A Meaningful Collaboration with American Center

Thanks to the American Center and passionate participants, these workshops weren’t just talks, they were interactive, engaging, and meaningful. By the end, nearly all attendees reported a stronger awareness of air quality and a commitment to taking action. We’re excited to continue spreading clean air knowledge, one workshop at a time. Because at Smart Air, we believe that everyone has the freedom to breathe clean air!
