Smart Air Philippines launched “Hang in Exhibit: Art of Breathing Safe,” a groundbreaking art exhibition for air pollution awareness.
The exhibit is the product of Smart Air Philippines collaboration with LIKHANGUNO, an organization of creative visual artists from the University of Rizal System – Angono, Rizal who volunteered for Smart Air Philippines’ ‘Project: Breathe Safe, Hang In” mural activity.
The Hang In Exhibit is one of Smart Air Philippines’ initiatives to raise awareness about air quality and air pollution in a more creative way. The main artwork focuses on featuring the ways to protect our health and our environment from the harmful effects of air pollution, while the rest of the artwork features the views of the volunteer artists about ‘a world with clean air’.
Highlights of the Launching Event
The launching event was attended by honorable guests such as President Eros Zuniga of the Safety Organization of the Philippines, the awarded Philippine Clean Air Champion of DENR, Ms. Lou Bonnevie of Earthday Jam Foundation Inc., representatives from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Pasig City, Richmonde Hotel Ortigas Chief Engineer, Engr. James Bautista, Rizal Technological University Head of Disaster and Risk Reduction Management, Instr. Emmanuel Taruc and Arch. Eric Cuisia of BOYSEN Philippines.
The event is also participated by the volunteer singer Mr. Raven Acedera, head of the organization Alingawngaw: Artists Amplifying Advocacies who took the stage with his captivating soulful voice.
Air Pollution Video Campaign
During the event, Smart Air Philippines also launched its video campaign for air pollution that features the behind-the-scenes of Project: Breathe Safe, Hang In and an interview with the Environment Scientist, Dr. Mylene G. Cayetano, Ph.D., who shared important messages in combating air pollution.
Dr. Cayetano said in the interview that “to be part of the solution, we need first to be aware of the problem and recognize that we are part of the problem.” She highlights that, as simple as not burning our waste, making sure that our vehicles are in good condition before using them, or using non-motorized forms of transportation, we can be part of the solution.
In addition, the video campaign also highlights the important message of Shelumiel Beltran, the Clean Air Guru of Smart Air Philippines:
“A world with clean air is a place where environmental and health sustainability starts. Ang air pollution ay napakatagal nang isyung pangkapaligiran na labis pumipinsala sa ating kalusugan at sa ating kalikasan. At masosolusyunan natin ito sa pamamagitan ng pagkilos – pagkilos para sa pagbabago sa sistema ng mga ginagawa natin na nagdudulot ng polusyon sa hangin.”
Translation: “A world with clean air is a place where environmental and health sustainability start. Air pollution has been a long-standing environmental issue that negatively affects our health and our environment. Thus, we can only solve this by taking action—action to change the system of our practices that causes air pollution.”
Beltran also shared how Project: Breathe safe, Hang in started and his message to people on how to be part of the solution, not the pollution.
Since the Hang In Exhibit was launched, Smart Air Philippines has opened it to the public, wherein people or organizations may book a clean air tour at Smart Air Philippines office to see the artworks while Smart Air Philippines conducts a short clean air discussion. While appreciating the artworks, people may also learn more about air quality and air pollution.
The Project: Breathe Safe, Hang In
The ‘Project: Breathe Safe, Hang In’ is a mural activity that aims to produce a collection of mural paintings that focus on raising awareness about air pollution and ways to improve air quality. The project was participated in by the volunteer artists from the LIKHANGUNO organization and lasted for one day.
The murals were painted using paints with “air purifying technology” that captures noxious air pollutants in the air and paints that are odorless and low in VOC (volatile organic compounds).

Prior to the project day, Smart Air Philippines and LIKHANGUNO collaborated in creating the mural designs. The volunteer artists attended the Smart Air Clean Air Workshop to learn more about air pollution and gather more ideas to use in conceptualizing the mural layout.
The volunteers were able to create the layouts, which are now transformed into the mural artworks of the Hang In Exhibit.
The Project: Breathe Safe, Hang In also aims to recognize that there are individuals, organizations, or companies that are doing something to provide solutions to the environmental issues that we are currently dealing with. Smart Air Philippines hopes that this project will serve as an inspiration for everyone to work together to achieve cleaner and safer air since breathing the right air quality is a right for each of us.
