The Blast Mini against COVID-19

A common concern is whether HEPA filters can filter viruses like the COVID-19 coronavirus. Science proves, air purifiers that contain HEPA filters or even lower grade filters can capture virtually all sizes of solid particles, including particles 0.06 to 0.14 microns in diameter – or the same size as the coronavirus.

Captures over 99.95% of PM2.5, virus & bacteria

The Blasts Mini’s HEPA filter effectively traps >99.95% of viruses, PM2.5, bacteria dust, pet fur, and mold, giving you clean air in your condo, office or gym. Sleep soundly without worrying about fine dust, allergies or asthma.

Add a carbon filter and capture more pollutants

HEPA filters capture particles like small PM2.5 particles. Activated carbon, on the other hand, captures odours and gases like volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs include harmful gases like formaldehyde and benzene, and can cause cancer, throat irritation, dizziness, and other not-fun side effects.

How often should I change the HEPA?

We tested a HEPA in real Beijing air for 200 days to get a sense of how long HEPAs last in real Beijing air.

Based on that data, Paddy estimated a HEPA lifespan of 5280 hours for the Blast and 3120 hours for the Blast Mini. For the Blast, this is roughly equal to 22 months at 8 hours of use every day.

Since air pollution in Thailand isn’t as bad as in Beijing, we assume that filters last longer and should be replaced after 25-27 months.

Why the Blast Mini is a great choice

Quiet

On high, all air purifiers make noise. However, the Blast Mini is one of the quietest on the market, in fact, 16 decibels quieter than the hugely popular IQ Air air purifier.

Eco-friendly packaging

We’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment, and one way we do this is by eradicating plastic from our packaging.

Easy speed adjustment

The Blast Mini has 3 fan speeds that can be easily activated with a knob. No remote control, no annoying beep sounds, no blinding lights. Just simple clean air.

Energy efficient

On the highest setting, the Blast Mini only consumes 82 Watt electricity. Considering a unit price of 4 Baht per kWh and a usage time of 8 hours a day, the Blast would cost between 60 and 80 Baht per month.

Wheels

Thanks to the Blast Mini’s lock-tight wheel design, you can move it easily through your premises without efforts.

Easy filter replacement

Changing the filter is a child’s play. Just open up the Blast, take out the old filter and insert a new one. It only takes 30 seconds.

Smart Air: better air purifiers for a lower price

The Sqair: The World's Most Cost-Effective Air Purifier

Smart Air Youtube

Most air purifier companies stuff their purifiers with unnecessary gimmicks to drive up prices. We at Smart Air, in contrast, are promoting the simple fact that air purifiers are just fans and filters. And by leaving pointless gizmos away, we’re able to provide you better air purifiers for a lower price.

These organizations below trust Smart Air and made a smart choice.

FAQs

Are Smart Air purifiers better than other air purifiers?

Our air purifiers work on the same principle as any other brand’s air purifiers. However, we’re the only air purifier company in the world that is transparent with its data and that doesn’t deny the fact that air purifiers consist of little more than fans and filters. We don’t make air purifiers overcomplicated and overprized by adding useless gimmicks to them. Our machines are honest, fully data-backed and streamlined to do one thing: cleaning air. And they do this one thing really well.

Why is Smart Air a Social Enterprise? And what is a B Corp?

In 2013, we set Smart Air up as a social enterprise. That means we’re not driven by greedy investors who are looking for huge profits, but by a mission to protect people from air pollution. Since 2018, we’ve been independently verified by B Lab for our social, environmental performance, transparency and accountability. B Corps are businesses that meet the highest social and environmental standards for people and the planet. See our impact score here.

Do Smart Air purifiers filter the coronavirus (Covid-19)?

HEPA filter air purifiers like Smart Air’s have been shown to filter out COVID-19 viruses, and lower transmission. See the data and learn how to protect yourself now.

What else do Smart Air purifiers filter?

Our HEPA filters capture all kinds of particles ranging from 0.005 μm (nanoparticles) to 30 μm (pollen). This includes virus, bacteria, PM2.5, PM10, pet allergens, dust, and mold.

Our Carbon filters absorb VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) such as formaldehyde, paint thinners, petroleoum fuels, or dry cleaning agents. Carbon filters also remove odors.

Of note: Not everyone needs carbon filters that’s why all our air purifiers come without them by default. We want our users to decide by themselves if they want carbon or not.
Find in-depth explanations on both filter types here.

How long is the delivery?

Usually, we’ll deliver all orders within 24 to 48 hours (except Sunday) across Thailand. Longer delivery times are rare but may occur.

Can I get a tax invoice for my order?

Sure. Just leave us a note on the checkout page. Tax invoices will be sent separately via EMS.

How long is the warranty?

We provide 2 year warranty on all air purifiers for manufacturing defects. 1 year warranty applies to our air quality monitors.

What’s the lifespan of the Blast and Blast Mini HEPA filter?

We made several tests in Beijing and got the following results: If the Blast Mini is used for 8 hours everyday in an 80m² room on the lowest level, the filter can be used for 13 months (or 3,120 hours). If it is used on the highest level, it can last for 12 months (or 2,880 hours).

If the Blast is used for 8 hours everyday in a 130m² room on the lowest level, the filter can be used for 22 months (or 5,280 hours). If it is used on the highest level, it can last for 19 months (or 4,560 hours). Do determine its lifespan based on usage and location. In Thailand, the life span should be longer due to less air pollution (15-17 months Blast Mini, 22-27 months Blast).

Some big purifier companies claim that their HEPA lifespans are the same no matter which country you are in, but how can it be the same when the air quality differs so greatly in different parts of the world?

Why Is the Blast and Blast Mini so quiet?

Our team of engineers conducted extensive research to design a motor, fan air duct, HEPA filter and front panel to maximise performance while reducing noise. The main reason why our purifiers are so quiet is because the air is flowing through a large area rather than a small area. As an analogy, if you blow air through a large straw, it is quieter than blowing through a small straw.

  1. 5 out of 5

    Thomas Stone (verified owner)

I run the Blast Mini on the lowest/quietest setting and it still moves enough air that I can feel the breeze from 20 feet away while the sound from the machine remains a barely noticeable hum. The unit itself is simple yet stylish and very easy to move when needed due the wheels on the bottom. The filter inside is practically covers the entire front of the machine. In summary, good looking yet simple with no bells or whistle; it does one thing and does it well.
