HEPA filtration. Real-time data. Automated control
Fully compliant. Ready to deploy
Smart Air’s Blast and Blast Mini air purifiers, when paired with the Akara ‘smart’ module and optional Akara sensor, provide a powerful, plug-and-play solution for improving air quality in healthcare settings – with no installation, no infrastructure changes, and no upfront capital cost.
Built to meet NHS England’s guidance on portable HEPA filtration in clinical spaces, the system adapts automatically to room occupancy and delivers full visibility through a single, central dashboard.
Three simple components. One smart system
1. Blast or Blast Mini
Portable HEPA air purifiers with high airflow and low noise – ideal for a wide range of clinical environments.
2. Akara module (NHS-compliant)
Delivered pre-assembled on the purifier, this module is designed to meet NHS HEPA filtration guidance and provide rich data for full control, monitoring and automation:
- Confirms device status
- Tracks pressure differential for accurate filter life tracking
- Calculates CADR and air changes per hour in real time
- Reads room temperature for contextual insights
3. Akara sensor (optional but powerful)
Wall-mounted sensor with thermal imaging:
- Detects number of people in a room
- Switches purifiers on/off based on occupancy
- Adjusts airflow based on room load – balancing air cleaning and comfort
- Controls up to 8 purifiers in one space
- Provides time-stamped room usage data
- Feeds into a central dashboard for real-time reporting and scheduling
No installation. No hassle
- Pre-configured and assembled: just plug in and connect to WiFi
- Automated operation: no user input required
- Energy efficient: runs only when rooms are occupied
- Data-driven infection control with live metrics and reporting
- No structural changes needed
- Fully aligned with Net Zero goals
Flexible cost model
- OPEX model available – daily rate for full package (purifier, module, sensor)
- Or purchase the purifiers and run the sensor module via operational spend
- No CAPEX required
Better air quality. Lower carbon footprint
Improving ventilation alone raises energy demand. Our approach delivers clean air with far less environmental impact:
- Lower carbon footprint than boosting mechanical ventilation
- Captures particles instead of diluting them
- Smart, occupancy-based control reduces energy use
- Directly supports the NHS drive to become the world’s first Net Zero healthcare system
More than air cleaning
Add robotic UV disinfection (optional from Akara) for a complete strategy:
- VENTILATION – dilutes particles
- FILTRATION – removes them
- DISINFECTION – destroys bacteria and viruses
Smarter scheduling and compliance
- Central dashboard shows entry/exit logs by room
- Helps plan room occupancy and surgical schedules
- Real-time eACH (equivalent Air Changes per Hour)
- Adaptive algorithms tailored to room size
