We all know space is at a premium. Whether you're managing an office, clinic, classroom or co-working hub, every square metre counts. So what if your air purifier didn’t need to sit on the floor, or take up desk or wall space at all?
That’s the thinking behind ceiling-mounting the Blast Mini.
It’s not something we currently offer as a standard feature, but it’s a smart tweak we’ve seen work brilliantly in the field. And if you're a facilities or building manager looking for ways to clean the air without adding clutter or tearing up your HVAC, this might just be the solution you've been searching for.

Why ceiling-mount?
1. Free up valuable floor space
Let’s start with the obvious one: getting the purifier off the ground. A ceiling-mounted Blast Mini keeps your workspace tidy, avoids trip hazards, and clears the way for desks, equipment or simply a cleaner look. It's roughly the same size and weight as a standard ceiling cassette air con unit so it’s easy to tuck away into your existing ceiling grid or plasterboard.
2. Not a 'fan' of fuss? One device for shared clean air
A big win of ceiling mounting is that it removes the purifier from being a 'personal' or portable item. Instead, you’re delivering clean air to the room as a whole, centrally and evenly. We’ve seen this in action in real-world installs like the BBC Worldwide offices where installing Blast Mini units into the suspending ceiling offered effective filtration across the space, without a bulky machine sitting in the corner.
3. Fixed solutions > portable patches
Portable purifiers can be moved, unplugged, or forgotten. A ceiling-mounted Blast Mini is fixed in place and centrally controlled so you don’t have to worry about whether someone moved it to the wrong part of the room or turned it off to make space for their phone charger!
4. Easy integration with supply vents or ducting
The Blast Mini can be ducted directly into a supply grill or central ducting. This means you can push clean air where it’s needed most without overhauling your entire ventilation system. We’ve even seen setups where supply vents are set up as ‘exhaust’ units, pulling air in and pushing filtered air out through the Blast Mini, improving both overall circulation and air quality.
It’s not a full HVAC upgrade - but that’s kind of the point. It’s quicker, cheaper, and far less disruptive.
5. Minimal install, maximum impact
In our custom installation at the University of Chicago, we created a full bespoke solution using Smart Air purifiers. But ceiling-mounting a single Blast Mini is a much simpler, budget-friendly approach that doesn’t require construction or specialist contractors. Just a bit of planning, some basic ducting, and you’re good to go.
So, is it worth it?
If you’re looking for a low-cost, low-hassle way to bring serious air filtration into your space (without losing space) a ceiling-mounted Blast Mini is a smart move. It’s not an off-the-shelf option (yet), but it’s an idea we’re putting out there because it works. It’s flexible and adaptable and in the right setting, it can turn your air quality strategy from reactive to robust.
