For the life of me I am incapable of finding the ioniser function on the app in order to switch it off.

Have you tested the effectiveness of this model like you have previously done for the Xiaomi Mi 2? Would be interested to see the performance.
Yes, as Adam pointed out already, ionization can be switched off in the application. Although it’s not that much dangerous and can be used while nobody is in the room, if one is so sensitive about it.
Please not that you can disable the ionizer on the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 pro.
