Clean air in computer labs

Clean air in Schools and Universities | Classrooms | Computer Labs | Staff Rooms | Canteens

Computer labs are high-density environments so air-quality is crucial. Staff and students spend extended periods in these spaces, where multiple computers (composed of various materials including metal, silicon, and plastic) emit harmful substances such as ozone, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and brominated flame retardants.

Why do you need air purifiers in Computer Labs?

Research into polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) emitted from computers showed PAH levels in computer labs were 2–25 times higher than that in outdoor air.

Air purifiers with HEPA filters and activated carbon are particularly effective at capturing particulate matter and gaseous pollutants, including PAHs.

Choosing the right air cleaner is crucial

  • A computer lab produce enough emissions from monitors and laptop so you really don't need any more from air purifiers. Choose 'Simply HEPA' products (say no to Ozone from ionisers and UV)
  • As well as a HEPA H13 filter, ensure your air purifier has carbon filters, ideally with the more effective granules rather than powder/foam. The carbon can help eliminate harmful substances emitted from electronic components such as VOCs and ozone

Our solution for schools

From the beginning, our design team has always focused on two main priorities: high efficiency at an affordable price, and low noise levels. Our choices for schools are:

  • A Blast air cleaner - a powerhouse on wheels, we believe this is the quietest commercial air cleaner in the market with the largest HEPA H13 medium. Its height makes it perfect for distributing a high amount of airflow over a wider surface and it also contributes to its low noise level and filter life longevity. The best placement for a single Blast unit is facing the class.
  • A Blast Mini air cleaner - half the size of the Blast, it is compact and can be placed under a table as long as there is at least 15cm distance from the wall.
  • QP Pro air quality monitor - this picks up both particulates and VOCs, as well as CO2 levels

Where costs allow, 2 x Blast Mini air cleaners with carbon filters can effectively reduce PM 2.5 concentration, allergens and other airborne pollutants, providing a healthier and fresher environment.

Cleaner air improves the health of both staff and students!

By investing in our products, you’re not only improving overall well-being of your teachers and students but also promoting a healthier environment, which can lead to better performance and increase attendance by lowering sickness levels.
