How the Blast Mini Mk II protects you from air pollution
Air pollution is a serious environmental and health issue. And it’s hard to escape – even our homes are filled with these dangerous microscopic particles. The Blast Mini Mk II’s 3-stage filtration effectively traps dust, mold, pollen, and PM2.5 – the main cause of air pollution.

The Blast Mini Mk II gives out as much clean air as 2.2 Blueair 203s in a minute
That’s a whole load of clean air!
It’s quieter too
If it’s more powerful than 2 Blueairs, it must be loud as heck, right?

It’s actually quieter. Think of it as the strong, silent type. A huge fan and an oversized HEPA means that more clean air can be pumped out at lower noise levels. You’ll hardly notice while it’s running.
Backed up by Open Data Tests

Alright, this photo is staged! But aeronautical engineer Paddy really did run over 200 tests on noise, particle capture, wind speed, and power usage. Because of this, the Blast can be a powerful yet quiet air purifier. And you don’t have to believe us. All this is backed up by thousands of hours of open data in our Clean Air Blog.
H13 Grade HEPA Filter
Chosen among 10 different tested HEPA materials. Effectively filters 99.95% of PM2.5, dust, pollen and viruses.

Which Purifier Should I Buy?
Choosing the right air purifier can be difficult for first-time buyers. Here’re some important things to consider:

Do you have any particular needs? HEPAs are enough for allergies and asthma, but recent renovation may require a carbon filter.

The Sqair purifier is ideal for bedrooms, but larger spaces like offices or hospitals may require the more powerful Blasts.

The main costs of air purifiers are filter replacements. Different purifiers have different HEPA lifespans and costs.

The Blast Mini Mk II FAQs
Are Smart Air purifiers better than other air purifiers?
Smart Air purifiers use the same cleaning principle as most other air purifiers. The technology behind air purifiers is not complex, and readily available. However, Smart Air is the only air purifier company committed to transparent communication through open-data. We avoid overcomplicating our air purifiers with high markups and marketing gimmicks. Smart Air purifiers are honest, data-backed, and streamlined to do one thing: clean air.
Can Smart Air’s purifiers filter COVID-19?
HEPA filter air purifiers like Smart Air’s have been shown to filter out COVID-19 viruses, and lower transmission. View the CDC data on how HEPAs reduce COVID-19 transmission here.
What pollutants does the Blast Mini Mk II filter?
Smart Air purifier’s HEPA filters capture many types of particulate air pollution, including nanoparticles as small as 5 nanometers (1/10th the size of COVID-19) to 30 μm (the size of pollen). The whole range includes viruses, bacteria, PM2.5, PM10, pet allergens, dust, and mold. An additional activated carbon filter can be added on top of the HEPA filter in all of Smart Air’s products. The carbon filters can absorb VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) such as formaldehyde, paint thinners, petroleum fuels, or dry cleaning agents. Carbon filters also remove odors. Where should I position my Blast Mini Mk II air purifier?
Smart Air tests show the position of an air purifier in a room does not matter, as long as: 1) The air purifier is at least 6 inches (15 mm) away from the wall. 2) The air purifier is strong enough for the room it is in.
How to know when it is time to replace the Blast Mini Mk II’s HEPA filter?
We recommend replacing the Blast Mini Mk II filter every 12 months in Bangladesh. But the truth is the exact time depends on many factors such as the number of hours used and local pollution levels. The most accurate way to determine when to replace a HEPA filter is to use an air quality monitor. Learn More: How to use an air quality monitor to test a HEPA filter
How can I protect myself from the high air pollution levels in Bangladesh?
Bangladesh, and especially Dhaka, has one of the highest air pollution levels in the world. During the winter season it is common for AQI to average between 200 (very unhealthy) and 300 (hazardous). Outdoor air pollution drastically affects air purifier performance – even when used indoors. When outdoor air pollution is bad, purifiers achieve a smaller percentage reduction and it becomes harder to reach safe levels indoors.
In order to breathe safe in Bangladesh we recommend “overpowering” the air pollution by: (1) using a second purifier, or (2) buying a machine that is rated for an even bigger room.

Babies love smart air!

I LOVE my Blast Mini. I bought it for the common area of my Dhaka (Bangladesh) apartment. Through our previous airpocalyptic winters here, I haven’t managed to get our PM2.5 solidly in the good range, despite using five additional Sharp purifiers throughout the apartment, which is a huge problem for me because I have young kids. I was lucky to buy my Sharp purifiers from a friend leaving Dhaka a few years ago so I got a good deal, though I’ve had to order replacement filters through Amazon India and pick them up at my in-laws house in Kerala when we visit. Now that Smart Air is in Dhaka (accessible through their Facebook page and website), it’s a game-changer. Apartments in Dhaka are huge, and very few people I know have a couple grand (or more?) to drop on purifiers to fully secure their indoor spaces. Plus, people love their cool winter air, which means opening the window sometimes in winter and letting the pollution waft in. The Blast Mini sits right in the center of my apartment, near both the kitchen and the common area where my kids spend most of their time. With this set up, the air inside is always in the green and I can breathe easy knowing my kids are protected. My husband really appreciates the lower noise of the Blast Mini compared to the Sharp purifiers (poor guy…). Plus, I think it looks super nice and you can even set stuff on top of it if needed (convenient!). Thank you Smart Air for your brilliance.
