Clean air in cafeterias

Clean air in Offices & Institutions | Open-plan offices | Meeting rooms | Breakout rooms | Cafeterias

Work cafeterias are high-density spaces where staff and visitors come together to eat and socialise. The kitchens, whether open plan or behind a door, will generate particles from cooking that impacts the overall indoor air quality. How we cook can generate a crazy level of pollutants, kitchens and adjoining rooms can become like a chemistry lab and can be the highest source of indoor pollutants in an office block.

As well as particles generated from cooking, any viruses from our breathing or dust particles from cleaning can remain suspended in the air for up to 16 hours!

A study by CLASP, found that cooking with gas and no proper ventilation can produce air pollution levels that exceed World Health Organisation's guidelines. In fact, a simulation of a UK kitchen found NO2 levels in breach of the EU limits for around 15 hours a week. That’s more than 2 hours every day!

The solution

The good news is that studies show that air purifiers with both HEPA and Carbon filters can reduce indoor NO2 levels by as much as a 27%!

Our Blast and Blast Mini air purifiers are equipped with HEPA filters that can remove 99.97% of particles generated from cooking and a carbon filter will help remove gases from the air. According to the size of the room, you can place either two Blast units or three to four Blast Mini units in your staff cafeteria.
