There is some evidence which suggests that LCD (liquid crystal display) screens such as TVs, laptops and computer monitors can emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Researchers at the University of Toronto tested a range of LCD screens including a computer monitor, TV and laptop, and found that more than 30 VOCs were emitted from the screens.
Furthermore, humidity was also shown to influence the amount of VOCs released by the screens, increasing by up to nine times as humidity went from 23 to 58%.
LCD-type televisions and computer screens may be a source of VOCs in your home or office. If you are concerned about their impact, you could try monitoring your air for VOCs using an air quality monitor or filtering your air using carbon filters.
