Carbon filters are a type of filter for air purifiers that remove gases such as formaldehyde, toluene, krypton. They use activated carbon (or charcoal) as a means to absorb these gases.
Other pollutants that carbon filters can capture include VOCs (volatile organic compounds), as well as odors and second-hand smoke.
You may wish to use a carbon filter in your home if you have a source of smells, have recently renovated (which can lead to high VOCs) or if you are sensitive to chemicals in the air.
