UV air purifiers are ineffective at killing viruses and bacteria, because the time the infected air spends in the purifier is too short.

UV only air purifiers are best avoided. However most UV air purifiers also contain a HEPA filter. HEPA filters can filter out 99.9% of viruses, and are the best choice for filtering viruses and bacteria.
