Around 20% of chemicals like ammonium and chloride make up PM2.5. Coal makes up about 4% of PM2.5 in the different cities. Using this data, scientists estimated that pollution from vehicles contribute to 6% of the PM2.5 in Beijing’s air. Across all cities, vehicle pollution makeup under 10% of particulate pollution.So cars are not the biggest source of pollution.
